"Equiline," my first solo project since The Genius Test, took almost two years to finish. It started out as a bunch of leftover demos for what would have been another Genius Test album, then it became a duet project called "The Palavers," then it was a band called "The Capital I" and finally it was just me, alone in a house in a South Jersey suburb, recording 12-part harmonies in the bathroom and guitar tracks on the back porch. Heavily influenced by The Beach Boys, The Association, United States of America, Broadcast, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Wendy and Bonnie, Stereolab and a myriad of 60s vocal harmony-pop, Equiline is considerably darker than anything else I ever recorded and presents some of my most personal material. It's an album about transitions between emotions, places, and people. The album also represents the most diverse instrumentation I've ever employed - everything from theremins and mandolins find their way into these 12 tracks. Two songs, "On The Patio" and During the Summer of 2007, Small Town Fires, my current band, played most of these songs live in a set mixed with our new material. We also sold these albums at shows. To make up for the fact that Small Town Fires didn't have an original recording, these records were often sold with stickers over the labels reading "Small Town Fires." The song "Cowgirls and Indians," has been played on radio stations from Rowan and Princeton University. TRACKLIST: TO PURCHASE THIS RECORD ($10 PLUS SHIPPING): DOWNLOAD MP3S (©2007-2008 BMI): |
